Children's Portrait Session Snoqualmie Ridge with wildflowers!

Friday, June 27, 2014

As promised, here are the photos of my friend who has two beautiful children with #3 on the way.  Enjoy these beauties, what a beautiful family!
I had the privilege of shooting this sweet little boy when he was only 2 weeks old!  Look at him now, wow he has changed and is super sweet!
I was informed I wasn't allowed to babysit this little guy because I wouldn't return him, I think she may be right!!! Total love!!!!
It was hard keeping up with this energetic little girl! Yeah, I'd steal her too!!
I'm so glad we had wildflowers and really nice natural areas to use as backdrops!  Even the streets were felt like we were in a park!

Thanks again C for letting me photograph your beautiful family, so looking forward to photographing #3!!! About that babysitting......

Class of 2018 Senior Photo Shoot!

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

It was a fun day driving around Issaquah finding the best places to shoot, the only problem? Rain, as it came and went!  We settled for the Skyline High School, got 5 shots out then the rain came.  So we drove around looking at the next location to shoot at.  We finally decided to call it a day when the sun decided to come back out.  We decided to finish out our shoot at the highschool and came up with some pretty good shots. Here they are. Thanks M!!!!

Part 2 was a few weeks later and I'll be posting those photos soon!

Then the sun came back out for awhile and we were able to quickly grab the next few shots.

Love the backlit photos with the color of her hair.

All day we were looking for fields of flowers and found this perfect little flower bed off the parking lot.  Great backdrop for some portraits.

and walls with lines are always great!

Stairs are good too.. but it does help when your Senior model is gorgeous!!
Thanks again for the fun day with you and your mom!

Professional Headshots

Sunday, May 18, 2014

I posted previously about creating a profile on Thumbtack.  My first client needed professional headshots for her website (http://www.fairtherapy.com/home.html), so I met her at her office.  We took several shots indoors and outdoors with many different looks.  I really had a fun time photographing her so much so I've asked her to model for me with her dog!  Here are some of my favorites from that shoot.

How Time Flies!

Sunday, May 4, 2014

Wow, how time really does fly.  It feels like yesterday I was bugging my friend to pose for a photo-shoot.  I had just gotten my camera and really needed the practice.  So we posed her little girl in November for a Christmas themed shoot.

At the time she was pregnant with her second child

This was in November 2012, then in February 2013 I had the honor of photographing their newborn baby boy

and the entire family....

Now I get to go see them soon and do some casual photos.  I am so excited to see how much the kids have grown and guess what? She's expecting #3!!

I signed up and created a profile in Thumbtack.  I think it's a really cool concept and lets see if it works out for my business.  I've submitted about 5 quotes so far.

Come see my profile and if you know anyone looking for a photographer they can request a bid here:

I will definitely use them to look for a landscape designer, have all sorts of ideas for the yard!!!

Not a Tulip

Sunday, April 20, 2014

After seeing everyone's post of the Skagit Valley Tulip Fields, I decided I didn't want to let it pass me by this year.  I have been seeing some really unique ways of photographing the tulips and felt very inspired.  I wanted to see if I could think outside the box and capture something different.

As we are driving up North I am watching the weather and it's completely overcast.  I remove my sunglasses and like the warm glow the light layer of clouds are providing from the sun.  This feels like we are in a giant softbox. I keep checking this every 15 minutes and hope it doesn't rain.

Steve and I discuss the weather and talk about how a good photographer should be able to turn lemons into lemonade.  You just never know what you are going to capture.  I've learned this the hard way back walking away from potential gems because the environment wasn't completely perfect for my liking.

We are getting close to our exit and traffic comes to a screeching halt. People are turning out of the lane and into the shoulder about a quarter of a mile from the exit. Uh oh.  So we sit and contemplate and discuss for a few minutes and make a decision to try the next exit.  After pulling off on the next exit I look at the map and discover there is really no easy way to get to the fields from this exit and decide to try the same exit but coming from the North.

Great luck no shoulder line-up from this direction.  However, the back-up is absolutely insane.  I know if it's this bad here, how bad is it going to be by the fields.  How difficult is it going to be to find a good vantage point and have the view unobstructed.

Again, a decision is made to just BAG IT!  I drove home kicking myself for not getting up at 5:00a.m. in order to get awesome shots of tulips with no one around!  It was a very long quiet ride home.

After we got home I noticed the light and how it was streaming onto the Dandelion seedling and thought it was a beautiful shot. Well, it's not a tulip, but I still think it's beautiful.
